Kidneys
Kidneys develop from the middle layer of the body.
They do not appear once.
Different forms emerge along the length of the body,
from higher to lower regions.
At the same time, the body grows.
Positions shift.
Relations reorganize.
This practice follows these changes
through direction, position, and gravity.
PRACTICE
Begin where you are.
Let your body settle.
Bring your attention to your kidneys.
Around the level of the lower ribs,
on both sides of the spine.
You can place your hands there.
Stay long enough
to sense the space.
Let the area become present.
Sense:
depth
volume
weight
Now include the back of your body above.
From the kidneys
towards the mid and upper back.
At some point,
bring your attention
to the back of the neck.
Stay there.
From here,
sense the length of your body
downwards.
Let a direction appear:
from the neck
towards the kidneys.
Stay with this direction.
Now return to the kidneys.
Sense them again
as a region.
Then return to the upper point.
Move between these two places:
neck
kidneys
Take your time.
At some point,
allow a slow tracing down.
Let your attention move
from the neck
down towards the kidneys.
You can let your body follow.
A small movement.
As you arrive in the lower back and kidneys,
pause.
Stay there.
Let the area deepen.
You may begin to sense:
settling
gathering
coming into place
From here,
let weight come in.
Let the lower back receive.
Let gravity organize this area.
You can include the legs.
Let the movement of the legs
be informed from the kidneys.
Stay with this connection.
From here,
allow movement again.
Let it come from this place.
Stay close to it.
Pause.
ATTENTION
How do you sense the kidneys as a place?
What changes between upper and lower?
When does the movement begin to feel supported?
NOTE
Stay with:
the region
the depth
the relation to the spine
the sense of settling
